Tribal CEO

So there’s this lady I can say she owned a firm. On my usual up an down strolling looking for a place to maybe call my workplace. I stopped at her office, met up with her secretary. I thought she owned the premises so I poured out all the reasons that brought me there. She was friendly and on asking for a job vacancy she advised that yeah there was one and consulting the director would serve me good. Trickles of joy took part of me and I thought to myself,”it’s my time I guess”. I met up with the director and she asked for my papers which I was glad to give her. She went through them and told me she’ll consult her stakeholders and would call me for an interview in few days to come. I appreciated her time thinking that would soften her heart and increase my chances of getting hired.

Days passed by,I held on my phone more than I held on my hopes as I eagerly waited for her call. To my I was to wait longer than expected.

Weeks passed and all hope was done with,it had been shredded down the litter. I hadn’t stopped my trial and error expeditions of job hunting.

Several weeks had passed by when I unexpectedly met up with the lady whose phone call I had anticipated so much. I was surprised when she couldn’t even remember my face after I greeted her and asked if she did remember me. I felt irritated with the way she reacted. At least she would acted to have forgotten it would have been better but failing to recognize me at all!.I had to re introduce myself obviously doing it like I were forced to. I asked her what had conspired, her answer sent me to begginer level.

What hurt is she gave in some interrogative questions,”do you live with a relative, where do they work, are they from the kuria tribe?”. I couldn’t find the right answers to her roughed up questionnaire. Worse still she managed to utter few “Lamentations” in her mother language. I had had enough of her and managed to sum up a statemen “I can’t understand what you are saying.” “Oh sorry I thought you are kuria,” she replied. “No! Am luhyia,so how did it go with the job I had applied for?” I had to reply her absurd question followed by a question maybe that would cut off the tribalistic convo she was stirring.

“Am sorry actually I forgot to hand in your application papers,”the last statement I had expected from her,it wasn’t even in my list of expectations to be frank. “Would you come tomorrow so that we’ll get to consult my fellow colleagues to see if you’ll get a chance?”

What my mind was contemplating,I was unwilling to let it out.”Yes,of course I’ll come am so eager to work with you that’s after the interview”. “So what time would be best for me to come?” The way I was enquiring you couldn’t read my fake eagerness. “Come around ten”. Was all she said. “Ok will you get me the papers I had left, I got some more and wish to compile them up so that I’ll increase my chances of getting hired”. I said with the fakest smile, though I hadn’t tried it on before. That’s the last she had encountered with me
